Dear Parkwood Families,

Welcome to a new school year at Parkwood Elementary -“A Place Where Dreams Begin”! My name is Susan Bamford, and I am honored to serve as your principal. This is my 11th year as Parkwood Elementary Principal, and I am excited to continue working with our students, families, and staff to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

At Parkwood, we are committed to providing high-quality instruction across all content areas. Our teachers and staff work closely together to ensure meaningful learning experiences, while fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. School-wide programs such as PBIS, PAX, structured literacy, and project-based learning help support both academic growth and a positive school culture.

We value strong partnerships with families and the community. Open communication, collaboration, and shared commitment are essential to student success, and we encourage you to be active participants in your child’s learning journey. Together, we can help each student reach their full potential and enjoy a memorable and successful school year.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, and being outdoors. I have three children—two attend Miami University, where I enjoy visiting and attending events with them. My youngest is a junior in high school, where I enjoy going to volleyball games and cheering her on.

Thank you for being part of the Parkwood Elementary community. I look forward to getting to know our Parkwood families and celebrating the growth and achievements of all our students this year. Here’s to a fantastic school year filled with learning, laughter, and success!

Warm regards,

Susan Bamford, M.Ed.
